Smarter Recovery at Home

GO HOME: Gamification for Home-Based Rehabilitation

Enversed Studios is a participant in the GO HOME consortium. This innovation project focuses on the rehabilitation of patients following hip or knee surgery. Its aim is to make rehabilitation more effective, efficient and motivating by using technology and gamification in the home environment
About the Project

In the Netherlands, more than 1.5 million people suffer from osteoarthritis. Surgery is followed by an intensive rehabilitation program lasting an average of 6 months, but as many as 55% of patients find it difficult to stick with the exercises.

The GO HOME project aims to improve rehabilitation and physical therapy for patients who have undergone hip or knee surgery over a three-year period. We are doing this using technological solutions based on gamification. These innovative eHealth products will be integrated into a single, ideal, self-help-oriented system for use at home.

Project Objectives

Why is GO HOME necessary:

  • Only 55% of patients perform the exercises correctly
  • Recovery takes an average of 6 months
  • High healthcare costs due to incomplete rehabilitation
  • Limited insight for therapists regarding home training

GO HOME by the numbers:

  • Project duration: 3 years
  • Recovery time is 1 to 2 months shorter
  • 30% increase in treatment adherence
